The sweet spot of variety and work-life balance

Meet Danielle Lewis

I’m the type of person who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and on projects where I have to analyze and think critically. I thrive with variety in my work and I need to be challenged. Come to think of it, that’s probably why I focus on technical accounting and process optimization. The accounting profession doesn’t always offer a variety in day-to-day work, but that aspiration is one of the main reasons that led me to Zeroed-In in 2022.

Traditional accounting work can often become routine and repetitive; that’s not the case at Zeroed-In. They welcome my love for innovation and desire to embrace new technology. We are even encouraged to learn new skills and given dedicated time to do so.

Similarly, we at Zeroed-In seek out clients who are open to innovation and trying new techniques. The accounting world is changing fast with new technologies like automation and AI moving into the space, and we enjoy working with companies keen to embrace these new advantages like we are.

It’s also important for companies to stay up-to-date with accounting changes, and we love to help them in that process. Technical accounting involves a wide range of tasks, from financial reporting and compliance to researching complex accounting issues. We currently have multiple clients who file with the SEC. This variety of tasks keeps the work interesting, challenging, and provides opportunities for growth and development. This intellectual stimulation provides a welcome change of pace from routine tasks and keeps the work engaging and satisfying.

And just like I enjoy variety in my work, I also wear multiple hats at home. I love challenging accounting work – but most of all, I love being a mom. Finding the balance to be both is not always easy at big firms or corporations. My drive to succeed and continue to expand my knowledge is not always conducive for a work-life balance. Our founders made it very clear that I could achieve that balance at Zeroed-In. I am able to not work a typical 8 to 5 and also hold a director role. It’s a huge relief to know that even during our busy season, we have leaders who mean it when they say they value work-life balance. I can pick up my daughters from school every day and still grow in my career. That kind of flexibility means so much to me.

It's just so easy to go to work and know that your insight and your time (in and out of the office) is really valued. Plus, working with such an amazing group of people makes it easy too.
